My artist comadre in arms, Ami Cooper, an emerging artist and writer, chose me as the subject of a blog article titled, Maria and the Gala. “The thing with mental health is that some people think it’s something that needs to be fixed or cured but it’s not. It’s not a problem. I’m just a different kind of person. As soon as I can accept that and learn to take care of myself, and learn to celebrate myself, it gets much easier to be alive.”
